Using shea butter for face care

Aromatherapy and essential oils

Nature never ceases to amaze us with its riches. One of them includes shea butter (also called shea butter), extracted from the seeds of the tree of the same name, which grows in the western, eastern and central parts of Africa. The product has a pleasant nutty aroma and firm consistency. The first European to become familiar with the production of this oil was the Scots traveler Mungo Park. He was delighted with the taste of the product and its amazing property of not deteriorating throughout the year, even without the use of salt.

Beneficial properties of shea butter

The wide range of beneficial properties of shea butter is explained by the large number of micro- and macroelements that are included in its composition:

  • triglycerides (acids: oleic and stearic - their content ranges from approximately 35 to 45% or more, palmitic and linoleic - from 3 to 8%, linolenic - 1%);
  • unsaponifiable substances (about 8%: phenols, tocopherols, triterpenes, steroids);
  • terpene alcohols;
  • hydrocarbons.

That is why in modern cosmetology this product is very often used in facial care. Shea butter, enriched with fatty acids, protects the skin from dryness (by moisturizing and protecting it from the negative effects of the external environment), giving it an elastic, firm and toned appearance.

The unrefined product of category A contains the largest amount of useful substances. This oil has a light beige color.

Shea butter helps accelerate the production of such an important component as collagen, which is so necessary to maintain skin tone. Triterpenes perform the function of protecting against ultraviolet rays. In addition, thanks to tocopherols, regeneration is accelerated and the aging process is slowed down. It is not for nothing that this plant is also called the tree of life.

Green tea in a cup
Green tea is an affordable and effective ingredient for masks against dark circles and bags under the eyes.

My job involves typing, and it happens that I spend about 8–10 hours straight doing this activity. This has a detrimental effect on the condition of my eyes: swelling and dark circles appear. In the evening, when I come home, I try to make compresses with melted shea butter and infusions of chamomile, parsley, dill, mint or green tea. I also additionally apply the product in its pure form to the area around the eyes to get rid of crow’s feet. These procedures help you maintain a healthy and rested appearance longer.

Using a product to strengthen eyelashes and eyebrows

Shea butter is very effective in caring for eyebrows and eyelashes due to its high content of vitamins A and E. It nourishes each hair along its entire length, stimulating its growth and improving its texture. You can apply melted butter in its pure form overnight, rubbing it in with a cotton swab. Beautiful eyelashes
If you regularly use shea butter before bed, thick and long eyelashes will become a reality.

One day I decided to make an appointment with an eyelash extension specialist. At first I was very pleased with the effect, but after three weeks I realized that this cosmetic procedure was not for me. Along with the extension materials, my own eyelashes began to fall out. As a result, I lost almost half of what I had initially. It took me a long time to restore them, using a mixture of shea, castor and burdock oils. After a couple of months, my efforts were crowned with success, and my eyelashes became thicker and longer.

  1. Add the remaining ingredients to the oils melted in a water bath.

  4. Apply the product using a special brush or cotton swab.
Jojoba oil
Jojoba oil is a unique product beneficial for the skin of the face, body, lips and hair.

One day, a friend complained that her lips were constantly dry and peeling. Whatever she used to cope with this problem, she bought a wide variety of balms and hygienic lipsticks - still nothing helped. I advised her to use shea butter: just spread it on her lips using a cosmetic brush. She followed my advice, and imagine her surprise when the dryness receded. Now she constantly uses this oil and would never exchange it for any other product.

Reviews on the use of shea butter

Shea butter looks like a solid, but it immediately melts in your hands and becomes pleasant, smooth to the touch. Shea or shea butter has a very interesting consistency - it is not greasy or sticky, that is, it does not leave behind an oily film - it is well absorbed into the skin and gives a slight shine, which goes away after a while. That's why I love using this oil as a lip balm: it's both healthy and beautiful.

First of all, shea butter is a balm for me; I use it for both lips and nails. I smear it on my lips in the same way as other balms, it nourishes them well, softens them, protects them from external negative influences, gives my lips a slight shine, in general, it’s a real benefit. It’s a good and healthy butter, so I recommend getting some shea butter if you don’t already have it.

I don’t melt shea butter on purpose, but apply it to the skin, wait a little until it becomes completely soft from the skin’s heat, and then distribute it evenly. And the grains then melt on their own on the skin. I use it on my face, as a mask and under my eyes at night. I love him very much.

One of my all-time favorites is Shea Butter. This is not the first jar I have bought and I consider it the most valuable and one of the most effective oils for the skin. I use Shea butter both in its pure form, slightly warming it in a water bath to achieve the desired liquid consistency, about a couple of times a week, and I also add it to face creams. I especially like to use it in winter, when the skin needs precious nutrition. After using it, the skin is very well hydrated and nourished. And any small wrinkles are smoothed out wonderfully.

I practically don’t use shea butter on my face in its pure form, except that in winter I can lubricate chapped and flaky areas. I use “pure” shea mainly for hands and feet. And for the face I add shea butter to masks. Banana suits my combination skin - it nourishes and moisturizes perfectly. I also like a mask with shea butter and clay: it does not dry out the skin as much as a “pure” clay mask.

I use shea butter as a lip balm, it amazingly moisturizes, nourishes lips, eliminates dryness, I highly recommend it to those who have flaky lips, it will help restore and tidy up your lips (of course, not all at once). For the face I use it in various combinations with other oils, melting it. The oil also protects the skin from ultraviolet radiation and the negative effects of environmental factors. Before using shea butter, my nose wings often peeled off in winter. I started applying just a little on my nose at night - this problem was solved for me. I advise everyone to try this oil, I think you will like it. The only drawback is the small jar.

The pantry of the plant world never ceases to amaze with the variety of substances that can be used for the benefit of beauty and health. Shea butter is becoming increasingly popular in the cosmetics market due to its amazing beneficial properties. Many representatives of the fair sex have already appreciated the beneficial effects of this herbal natural component on the skin.
