There is an opinion that with gold everything becomes better - and not only from an aesthetic point of view. A small amount of this precious metal also works wonders for edible things, such as the Balkan alcoholic drink known as rakia. In this case, we are talking about Zlatija, a honey-based plum brandy made with 24 carat gold leaf.
Maria Jovicic, producer of Zlatija, claims that edible gold has "beneficial effects on blood circulation, the immune system, and even mental disorders." And he adds that in recent years it has even been used to treat inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis or psoriasis.
However, even if you forget about all these health benefits, you will still know that you are drinking a first-class brandy containing an ingredient most associated with wealth and luxury - in other words, gold. Apparently, it is precisely because of this that Zlatija is becoming increasingly popular as an alternative to champagne, a traditional alcoholic drink for special occasions.
