A diamond weighing almost 1000 carats has been found!

Interesting

A unique diamond weighing 998 carats was found in the legendary Karowe mine in Botswana! The deposit is managed by one of the industry leaders, Lucara Diamond, which specializes in the extraction of very large precious minerals. The outstanding stone was recovered from the same area where its younger "brothers" were found before - diamonds weighing 273, 105, 83, 73 and 69 carats.

Recall that the Karowe mine is one of the most famous deposits of giant minerals in the world. It was here in 2015 that the famous transparent colorless diamond "Our Light" weighing 1109 carats was mined. This is the second largest diamond in history. Two years later, in 2, it was purchased from Lucara Diamond for $2017 million by British tycoon Lawrence Graff.

The unattainable leader in terms of dimensions is still the Cullinan or Star of Africa diamond weighing 3106,75 carats. It was found in 1905 in the Premier Mine in South Africa.
