Made famous in just a few days, the world's only red diamond gold coin was sold to Dubai-based Tiara Gems and Jewelery.

Mining and metals company Rio Tinto announced the sale of a unique Australian gold coin encrusted with a red diamond mined at the Argyle field. The buyer of the Kimberley Treasure was Tiara Gems and Jewelery, a company specializing in rare colored gemstones and collectibles. Kimberley Treasure found a new owner within 48 hours of being put up for sale.

Rio Tinto did not make an official announcement of the amount of the transaction, however, the announced value of the coin was 1 million Australian dollars (about 760 US dollars).

Recall that the one-of-a-kind coin is made of a kilogram of pure gold (99,99%) and encrusted with the rarest red diamond weighing 0,54 carats. The creator of the coin is Perth Mint, who, over 5 years of cooperation with John Gliese (the official partner of Argyle Pink Diamonds), have created many exclusive gold bars and coins with diamonds. According to Rio Tinto, such pieces "are in high demand among investors, collectors and gemologists."
