The largest artificial diamond in the world is grown in China!

Interesting

12,75 carats is the weight of a diamond cut from a CVD diamond. Recently, the stone received a certificate from the International Gemological Institute (IGI) in Hong Kong. The laboratory confirmed that the diamond belongs to type IIa, that is, it has a high clarity of VVS2, an F color (just a little short of the most transparent D) and an impeccable cut. Synthesized diamonds of such weight and quality have not yet been in the world, which indicates the unrealistic development of technologies in this area. It was cut from an artificial diamond weighing 46,2 carats.

Representatives of the Institute said: “The diamond is an outstanding achievement in the field of growing CVD diamonds. And, of course, this event opens the door to future opportunities to exceed current gemological standards.”

Recall that CVD technology (“chemical vapor deposition”) is one of the most modern methods of growing diamonds. Such a stone can be distinguished from a natural one only with the help of ultraviolet light: the color of fluorescence in CVD diamonds is orange. Although there are cases when even in ultraviolet light such stones had a completely natural blue tint.
