Casio Vintage A100WEG Watch Review

Wrist Watch

The Japanese company Casio continues to work tirelessly and comprehensively. New avant-garde watches, even quite futuristic ones, are issued on the mountain, but at the same time the brand does not forget about its glorious history and does not disregard its loyal admirers. One of the manifestations of such attention was the release of the Casio A100 line, which frankly goes back to the iconic digital F-100 watch, which was released in 1978 and became the first Casio watch in a plastic case.

That series was incredibly popular all over the world, which, among other things, was greatly facilitated by the participation of the F-100 in the excellent science fiction movie "Alien". And the index "100" in the name unequivocally hints at the assessment of the quality of the watch on a 100-point scale. It is symptomatic that the same "weaving" is present in the current edition.

Of course, the electronic "filling" of the new models has changed, it has become completely modern. At the same time, the design features are carefully preserved: before us is what can be called a vintage example. The front panel with four buttons looks especially nice and touching. Each of them has its own functional purpose, each, like the prototype, is marked with its own color. Gray - reset (reset the chronograph to zero), yellow - light (illumination), red - mode (indication mode), green - start (start chronograph).

From this, by the way, it is clear that the watch is equipped with a chronograph function. The measurement time can be up to one hour, and the accuracy is 1/10 second. There is also an alarm clock, a calendar (date, day of the week, month, excluding leap years) and the pm / am indicator ("day / night"). The accuracy of the quartz movement is very high - within plus or minus 30 seconds per month. The battery is designed for a guaranteed service life of at least 3 years.

Casio A100 watch:

An important innovation (in comparison with the historical prototype) is the case and bracelet, namely, their materials. The bracelet is made of stainless steel, and the case is, as before, made of plastic, but equipped with a metal coating, in the color of steel or gold. In the latter case, the same coating is applied to the bracelet. The case is rectangular, its dimensions are 40,7 x 32,7 mm, rather thin - 9,2 mm, very light - the weight of the watch assembly is 53 grams. The case is water-resistant to 30 meters in accordance with the international standard DIN 8310 / ISO 2281. The LED display, equipped with LED backlighting, is protected by acrylic glass.
