Friends! Cartier knows how to surprise with the design of its watches. No other watch brand has such a variety of forms. An example is the new Cartier Libre collection. Jewelry accessories with a flexible base spring that bends in different directions, turning from a watch into a bracelet and vice versa.
The inspiration for the unusual novelty was the bracelet of Hollywood actress Gloria Swenson, created by Cartier in the 1930s. Rather, there were 2 bracelets, but we are only interested in one of them.
You may not see much similarity here, but the principle of these jewelry is the same. It was based on a hinged design without any fasteners. Apart from rock crystal, which in the era of old Hollywood was called "frozen ice", the bracelet was decorated with platinum, white gold and diamonds.
Diamonds, as you can see, are here too. They are inlaid directly into the metal of the bracelet, for which Cartier has developed a new setting method. The very name of the new technique, "triangular bartack" fully reflects the design intent. Unusual three-dimensional links of the bracelet are decorated with a mosaic of triangles.
The watch is presented in three versions. In the first version, the white gold bracelet is encrusted with black spinel and diamonds. In the second version, the pink gold of the bracelet is covered with a mosaic of diamonds, blue sapphires, black spinels, chrysoprase and coral. The third version received a rose gold case, and in addition to diamonds, a moonstone was used in the decoration of the watch, spinel and grenades.
The height of the bracelet, which hides the quartz movement of the watch, is the same in all three cases - 20,32 mm, but the length varies slightly.
