Casio and Honda Racing celebrate historic victories

Wrist Watch

2021 is a jubilee year for Honda Racing: in 1961, 60 years ago, the Japanese won their first Grand Prix in road racing in West Germany. This was done by racer Takahashi Kunimitsu on a Honda RC162 motorcycle, with which Kunimitsu won a total of 10 victories in a year. In honor of the significant date, Casio Corporation has released two limited edition Edifice watches - EQS-930HR-1AER and EQW-A2000HR-1AER.

Says Tashiro Atsushi, Global Design Director Edifice: “Casio began partnering with Honda Racing in 2018 when the company began supplying engines to the Scuderia Toro Rosso (now Scuderia AlphaTauri) Formula 1 racing team. The EQS-930HR-1AER is its fifth collaborative model. This time, the main design theme is the RC162 motorcycle. We took the iconic bike's color palette as a basis.

The dial that catches the eye in the first place is inspired by the RC162 profile. At the top is a red insert reminiscent of the iconic fuel tank. On the lower half of the dial and on the bezel, there are silver aluminum details, the shade and texture of which are associated with the forged motorcycle fairing. The yellow Honda logo element and the green ring stand out against their background. "

EQS-930HR is presented on a genuine leather strap, which is painted black on the front side and red on the back. The textured elements on it are reminiscent of the Takahashi Kunimitsu racing suit. Honda logo on fabric tab and loop. The solar battery works like a continuous refueling system, supplying the clock with the necessary energy even in minimal light. The anti-reflective sapphire crystal is scratch-resistant.

The EQS-930HR stopwatch operates with an accuracy of 1 second in a range of up to 10 minutes. Chronograph minute hand (10 o'clock position) - retrograde. There are 12- and 24-hour formats for counting the current time, as well as racing modes: elapsed time, split time, time of 1st and 2nd places. The watch is very lightweight (only 88g). They are presented in a steel case with a diameter of 45,8 mm and a thickness of 13 mm. The water resistance is 100 meters.

The next model, the EQW-A2000HR-1AER, was inspired by the same RC162 motorcycle. The bike's color palette and Honda Racing signature shades are again taken as a basis. The silver bezel and special aluminum alloy dial are associated with the motorcycle fairing. The scuffs and chips on the metal surface are reminiscent of the challenges that racers go through. The red stripe echoes the bike's fuel tank.

The Honda logo on the dial, case back and strap underscores the watch's connection to the motorsport brand. Stylish bracelet, made of leather with steel holders, imitates the costume of the racers. Also included is a textile strap with quick change function.

The advanced functionality of the watch makes it attractive for lovers of clarity and speed. The EQW-A2000HR is equipped with a tachymeter and a stopwatch with an accuracy of 1/20 of a second. They display world time and current date. A reliable solar battery (Tough Solar technology) is responsible for uninterrupted power supply. Scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating protects the dial from damage. Case diameter - 44,3 mm, thickness - 11,9 mm, water resistance - up to 100 m.The complete watch weighs only 92 g.
