General characteristics of watches Casio SGW

Actually, the belonging of the Casio SGW watch series to the ProTrek brand is controversial. Initially, Casio SGW watches were created as a budget alternative to the more "advanced" and more expensive ProTrek watches, and the line was called OutGear. With the same focus on tourists as the target audience, Casio SGW watches are much more modest in terms of their functionality. If modern true ProTrek are equipped, for example, with a quad sensor (thermometer, barometer / altimeter, compass, pedometer), GPS navigation, synchronized with a smartphone with the ProTrek Connect application installed in it, etc., then Casio SGW does not. And today these watches are sometimes referred to as the Casio Collection.

Nevertheless, the possibilities of this watch are quite extensive. It’s strange if it were different, because after all, it’s Casio ... Let not a quad sensor (4 in 1), but there are always a couple of indicators that are very necessary on a tourist route: for example, a thermometer and a barometer, or a compass and thermometer. In addition, Casio SGW watches are more compact, lighter in weight and, as already mentioned, less expensive. And their reliability, including in rather harsh conditions, the accuracy of measurement of everything they measure, ergonomics, design - at the same height for Casio.

In addition to the aforementioned twin sensor Twin Sensor in one or another of its configurations, all these models have cases and straps made of plastic, sometimes cases with metal elements, bracelets sometimes made of steel; glass - mineral or acrylic; water resistance of the case is not less than 100 meters; there is an electroluminescent backlight of the dial. Further - more about several interesting models of Casio SGW watches, right in the ascending order of the numbers in the articles.

Casio SGW-100

Two great options for outdoor enthusiasts: the Casio Pro Trek SGW 100 1V and the Casio Pro Trek SGW 100 2B (yes, sometimes we will still call this ProTrek here). Casio SGW 100 watches in both of these versions are presented in a plastic case with a diameter of 47,6 mm and a thickness of 13,2 mm, water-resistant up to 200 meters - the watch is really suitable for diving. And on the route, they will be useful thanks to the dual sensor, which includes a digital compass and a thermometer operating in the range from -10 to +600C with an accuracy of 0,1 OS.

In addition, Casio SGW 100 watches are equipped with rich functionality, traditional for the watches of this Japanese company. In the presence of an automatic calendar (date, day of the week, month, year), which does not require adjustment until 2100, world time, split-chronograph, stopwatch with an accuracy of 1/100 sec and measuring time up to 1 hour, a countdown timer from 1 minute to 24 hours with autorepeat, 5 alarms, on / off function, switching from 12-hour to 24-hour mode and vice versa.

The bezel of the Casio SGW 100 watch is made of aluminum, while the Pro Trek SGW 100 2B model is blue with yellow and white accents, while the Casio SGW 100 1V has a black marking on the polished surface. The color of the main body, as well as the color of the strap and LCD of the Casio SGW 100 2B variant are black, while the Casio SGW 100 1V watches are mainly made in shades of gray. The glass in both versions is acrylic.

It is necessary to note the extremely low weight of the Casio SGW 100 watch: it is only 55 g.

The cost of the Casio Pro Trek SGW 100 watch, with such good characteristics, is very moderate.

Casio SGW-300

The Casio SGW 300H watch is somewhat larger in size: the diameter of its plastic case is 49,2 mm, the thickness is 14,1 mm. True, the water resistance is lower - 100 meters, you can swim, including underwater with a snorkel and a mask, but not too deep. The watch is also equipped with a dual sensor, but this time there is no compass, and in addition to the same thermometer operating in the range from -10 to +60ОWith an accuracy of 0,1 OS, there is a barometer / altimeter. In barometer mode, this sensor operates in the range from 260 to 1100 hectopascals (195 - 825 mm Hg), and in altimeter (altimeter) mode - from -700 to 10 m above sea level. All other functions are the same as for the SGW-000. The display is protected by acrylic glass.

Let's note two versions of the SGW-300 watch. Model SGW-300H-1A is made mainly in black, the case and strap are made of plastic, the bezel is steel, the display is in blue tones. The watch weighs very little - only 47 g, and is inexpensive - 6040 rubles. And the version SGW-300HD-1A, with a green display, differs primarily in a steel bracelet, respectively, it is heavier - 101 g, and more expensive.

Casio SGW-400

Casio SGW 400H watches are almost indistinguishable from the 300s. That is, it is functional - nothing at all, the black case (plastic, aluminum bezel) is slightly larger - diameter 50,8 mm, thickness 14,9 mm, water resistance - the same 100 m, weight a little more, but still they are very light - 51g, convex acrylic glass, black-blue-white display, black plastic strap.

Casio SGW-450

But the Casio SGW 450H watch, with exactly the same dimensions as the 400s, and the same water resistance, the bezel made of the same aluminum, with the same convex glass (only not acrylic, but mineral), and with the same basic functionality (excluding the dual sensor thermometer + barometer / altimeter) - this watch has serious differences. First, they are with hour and minute hands! Many people like it, although, of course, the digital indication of the current hours and minutes remains in place. And by the way, seconds are the same as in all the above models: the seconds of the current time are displayed in the lower window in the "date-month" mode.

And the Casio SGW 450H watch in the upper left corner of the display has an exclusive function - a window that shows in which direction and how much the atmospheric pressure changes. Remember one of the ancient roles of wall-mounted pointer barometers? The pressure increases - it means that the weather is good, if it falls - it means worsening. It's the same here. In general, it is useful. And in any case, curious.

However, index 2b can be omitted for this purpose. But if you are interested in certain versions of Casio SGW 450H watches, then this index will come in handy. Here we will talk about two versions. The Casio Pro Trek SGW 450H 2B is available in black with blue and orange accents on a black plastic strap. In general, this designation - Casio SGW 2B - refers to color solutions "all black" or so. The weight of this model is already familiar to us 51 g. And the Casio Pro Trek SGW 450HD 1B watch is a combination of a black display and polished metal (aluminum bezel, steel bracelet). This model weighs 104g.

Casio SGW-500

The hands of the Casio SGW 500H watch - as many as three pieces: central hour, minute, second. Lovers of the classics should be pleased. Naturally, everything is duplicated by digital indication. On the contrary - it is, perhaps, the main one, and it is the arrows that duplicate. All basic functions are available: automatic calendar (date, day of the week, month, year), which does not require adjustment until 2100, world time, split-chronograph, stopwatch with an accuracy of 1/100 sec. and measuring time up to 1 hour, countdown timer from 1 minute to 100 minutes, 5 alarms, on / off function, switching from 12-hour to 24-hour mode and vice versa.

And beyond that - the phases and age of the moon, the time of sunrise and sunset. It is also attractive that the watch is more compact than all of the above: the diameter of the case (plastic, aluminum bezel) is 46,8 mm, the thickness is 13,6 mm. Water resistance 100 m, acrylic glass.

SGW-500H-1B version on a black plastic strap (weight - the same 51 g). As you must have already noticed, the letter D in the Casio SGW 500HD type designation indicates a steel bracelet. Here is an almost black watch Casio SGW 500HD 1B, with a beautiful dial finish, equipped with a steel bracelet, because it is more than twice as heavy - 113 g. But in fact, this is very little.
