CasiOak Goes Steel - Long-awaited Rebirth

Wrist Watch

One of the best-selling G-Shock models - the model with the octagonal bezel GM-2100 - finally arrives in steel. The watch, which received the comic nickname CasiOak due to the similarity of the bezel with the legendary model Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, already came out in black, red and transparent cases and even acquired a camouflage bezel. But fans of the popular design continued to hope for a steel version.

And their wishes were heard. The G-Shock Ana-Digi GM-2100 series comes with a steel case, and the bezel of the recognizable shape also becomes steel. Several colors will be presented at once: GM-2100N-1A in monochrome steel, GM-2100N-2A with a green dial, GM-2100B-3A with a red dial and GM-2100B-4A with a blue dial.

The GM-2100 debuted in 2019 and immediately evoked associations with watches from another manufacturer. However, Junichi Izumi, who is responsible for new products at the Casio Hanemura Technology Center, answered all questions that Japanese designers had no source of inspiration other than their own G-Shock DW5000. Be that as it may, GM-2100 immediately found their fans.

The new steel representatives of the Ana-Digi series use a combination of hands (including the day of the week indicator at 9 o'clock) and a digital display. Steel dials are particularly striking thanks to the pattern of thin vertical stripes.

Steel in the new GM-2100 has reached the case and bezel, but the straps are made of polyurethane. Thanks to this, the models with the green and blue dials received matching straps.

Cases with expressive steel profiles are water-resistant to 200 meters, making them suitable for outdoor activities. An additional incentive is the reliable protection of the mechanism thanks to the use of the Carbon Core Guard Structure.

However, steel adjusts in a different way - it is easy to imagine this watch on the wrist on working days. Now the GM-2100 has gained additional weight in every sense: thanks to the steel, the case has become heavier, and the watch looks more solid.
