Fraudsters' chronographs and killer classics: what watches were worn by famous movie criminals

Wrist Watch

It is known that the leaders of the mafia, scammers and cheats love to spend their unjust money on luxury goods. The watch is in one of the first places on this list. Even the first mafiosi of the 1930s loved to carry expensive gold “onions” with diamonds in their vest pocket, and later - a heavy gold watch on the wrist. When movies began to be made about insidious, dangerous and charming criminals, the clock, literally and figuratively, played a role in it.

The richest gangster assortment of jewelry and watches is shown in Martin Scorsese's film Casino (1995). The hero of Robert de Niro - the sharper and schemer Sam "Ace" Rothstein - contacts the mafia and grows fabulously rich. Using the money he earned through unjust means, he buys his girlfriend Ginger (Sharon Stone), a big lover of gold and diamonds, bracelets, necklaces, rings and, of course, a watch from the Roman house of Bvlgari. The iconic Serpenti watch can be viewed in the famous scene where Ginger lounges on her huge bed admiring her treasures.

"Legend"

In the criminal biopic (from the combination biographical picture - "biographical picture") "The Legend" of the gangster brothers Ronald and Reginald ("Reggie") Edge, Reggie's brother was played by actor Tom Hardy. On his wrist one could see a vintage flat gold Omega watch in a case of the form tonneau ("barrel"), extremely popular in the 1930s. Bezel watch was lined with diamonds, bracelet - Milanese weave. This is the model that Reggie Edge actually wore. In 2015, the watch left the auction for good money.

The Thomas Crown Affair

The charming museum robber portrayed by Pierce Brosnan in The Thomas Crown Affair appears on the screen in an elegant rectangular Reverso watch with a rotating case from the respectable Swiss manufacturer Jaeger-Le-Coultre. As a representative of the company said in an interview, the watch was in the frame thanks to the film's producer, who himself is a big fan of Reverso.

"Blood Diamond"

In a dramatic action movie about the criminal "diamond mafia" operating in Africa, arms smuggler Danny Archer (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) wears a massive Breitling Super Avenger II on screen. In general, the character of DiCaprio is not an example of morality and obedience to the law, but towards the tragic finale, his hero experiences, as it happens in such films, a certain spiritual rebirth: it is possible that good hours influenced.

"The wolf of Wall Street"

In a somewhat less tragic and heroic incarnation - in the role of stock cheater Jordan Belfort in the film "The Wolf of Wall Street", DiCaprio wears a relatively modest sporty three TAG Heuer Series 1000 switchman, while his "colleague" Donnie Asof ( performed by Jonah Hill) wears a Rolex Daytona with a gold case and a bracelet made of the same metal.

"Adrenalin"

Not just a gangster, but a real hitman Chev Chelios (in this role played by the irresistibly brutal Jason Statham) in the film "Adrenaline" tries to delay the inevitable death from a rare poison, raising the adrenaline content in the blood in various ways. In the race to death, he is assisted by a TAG Heuer Carrera chronograph on a massive metal bracelet.

"Two guns"

In Two Stems, Bobby, an undercover government agent posing as a bank robber (played by Denzel Washington), impersonates the watchmaker. "Gangster" chose a democratic price chronograph with a quartz movement of the American brand Fossil. A real criminal would prefer something more expensive.

"Codex Gotti"

For example, the Piaget, worn by John Gotti, or "Teflon Don", the leader of the infamous Gambino mafia clan. When Kevin Connolly decided to film about him biopic "Code Gotti", he invited John Gotti Jr., the son of a famous gangster, to consult. He not only told what his father liked to wear, but also donated his father's watch Piaget for filming, in which John Travolta, who played Gotti Sr., appears on the screen.

"Big game"

Piaget is generally popular with criminals. The watch of this brand was also chosen by Jessica Chastain in the role of ex-figure skater Molly Bloom, an elegant and intelligent Bandera who opened an underground casino in Hollywood. In one of the frames of the movie "The Big Game" Jessica-Molly's wrist is adorned with a Piaget Tradition Watch in a rose gold case with diamonds on the bezel and on a gold bracelet, as well as Piaget Possession bracelets, and a pendant from the same Piaget Possession collection on the neckline. Very expensive things emphasize the feigned respectability of the beautiful delinquent.
