Power reserve in Italian style - a review of Meccaniche Veneziane Redentore Riserva di Carica

Wrist Watch

The Apennine Peninsula has a number of iconic places for world science, literature, culture and art. But Venice is not to be missed. It was Venice and its beauty, coupled with architectural masterpieces, that formed the basis of the philosophy of the Meccaniche Veneziane watch brand. The ideological inspirers - the brothers Alberto and Alessandro Morelli - decided to produce watches that would be dedicated to their beloved city. The Meccaniche Veneziane brand is by no means old. The watch dedicated to the beauties of Venice is only five years old: 2017 is considered the birth year of Meccaniche Veneziane.

Redentore Riserva di Carica: architectural inspiration

The model that will be discussed belongs to the Redentore line. More specifically, Redentore Riserva di Carica. The clock is dedicated to one of the architectural monuments in Venice on the island of Giudecca, which rises above the canal leading to the Piazzetta. The Basilica del Santissimo Redentore church was built in 1592 in honor of saving the city from the plague, which claimed the lives of more than 50 people, which at that time amounted to almost a quarter of the population of Venice.

Power reserve: features of complication

The power reserve indicator is not the most common feature or complication that a watch has. Nevertheless, power reserve is found in the model ranges of various manufacturers in Europe and Asia.
In simple terms, power reserve is an additional hand on the dial that shows the time for which the power reserve of the watch is enough when used without winding. But here lies one trick that is worth mentioning. A hand-wound watch equipped with a power reserve will allow you to use the function much more accurately, since it does not wind up while wearing it. Well, where there is automatic winding, when the watch is worn, the arrow will be at the maximum almost all the time.

As you understand, the watch is equipped with such an arrow and, accordingly, the power reserve function. The hand, depending on the level of the plant, is able to move from the 9 o'clock mark to the 3 o'clock mark and back. At the same time, the minimum is at the "nine", and the maximum, respectively, at the "three". To improve readability, the tip of the arrow is colored blue.

Dial: other hands, date

Other hands, whose function is standard, thanks to their coloring, are not at all lost against the black dial. But there is no talk of glowing at night - a light-accumulative composition is not provided.

Another arrow with a blue tip moves once a day. This is a date indicator, which is placed in a separate window above the number 6.

Case, caseback: height dimensions, cathedral fits to the wrist

The case has a fairly standard appearance, as well as the shape. Satin on the sides, the rest of the parts are polished. A little out of this range is such a parameter as thickness. Yes, the Italian designer decided so. But 15 mm thickness is not quite a suitable option for shirt cuffs.

The back cover depicts the same Basilica del Santissimo Redentore, in honor of which the watch was created.

Seiko TMI NE57A: a lot of good things

Solid, accurate, reliable, unpretentious, maintainable and much more good. It's all about Seiko movements. It is far from a secret that the products of the Japanese watch industry giant have long been a good help for small brands. This affects the price. And today, you see, this is an important factor.

If we talk about the mechanisms that are used in Meccaniche Veneziane, then among the watches you will not find quartz models. This is due to the company's environmental philosophy.
