Men's watch Michel Herbelin from the Newport collection

Wrist Watch

Newport is the iconic collection of the Swiss-French brand Michel Herbelin. Blue space and snow-white sails - these are the leading motives for creating this marine brand! The favorite theme of the first father (Michel), and then his sons (Jean-Claude and Pierre-Michel) were retro models, imbued with the spirit of French chic. In combination with the high quality of Swiss production, the line, which appeared in the late 80s and was updated in 2010, made a splash in the watch world!

The Newport collection is divided into several series. Today we will talk about the chronograph from the Yacht Club series. Jean-Claude was inspired to create it by the unusual view of the portholes of transatlantic yachts.

The large dial, protected by sapphire crystal, contains many details: unusual counters, large hour markers and voluminous hands (both luminescent). Take a look at models from other Newport series for comparison - they seem to be very similar, but the details are smaller and there is no funny scale at the bottom counter ... But first things first.

The clock is made in black and white style. The stopwatch takes readings with an accuracy of 1/10 of a second. Look: the lower counter is supplemented with a semicircular scale with missing numbers. The chronograph has two modes: ADD and SPLIT. The first is used to measure the time with breaks, and the second is used to measure the intermediate finish.

A few red accents (numbers on the second scale along the edge of the dial and a pair of hands) give the watch an even sportier look!

At the 12 o'clock position there is a double-leaf big date window. The black PVD welt is engraved with the tachymeter scale and the name of the collection.

Completing the picture are attractive chronograph pushers and a double-protected screw-down crown embellished with the brand's symbol, the nautical helm.

On the back cover - the same picture. And a lot of screws, as if integrated into the skin of a marine vessel.

Inside there is a reliable Swiss quartz movement Ronda 5040 B. It will never let you down if, according to the instructions, you bring the date strictly in the period when the hour hand is at the bottom of the dial between 4 and 9 o'clock.

Pay attention to the original fastening of the leather strap to the case: the "double" temples are located at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions. And the strap itself turned out to be unusual - with double contrasting stitching and a thickening in the central part. The fastening method was chosen as the most elegant - a butterfly clasp.

The diameter of the steel case is 42mm and the thickness is 10,8mm. Water protection, as it should be for all marine brands, is at a height of up to 100 meters.

The Newport Yacht Club Chronograph watch is the perfect companion for active men!
