Casio Corporation has expanded its line of G-STEEL steel watches from G-SHOCK brand with the model GST-B400. The watches are made in the recognizable style of G-STEEL, but they also have a number of serious innovations. First of all, it is a slim body - only 12,9 mm. Such a small thickness (especially for the G-SHOCK with its electronic module "suspended" inside the case), the Japanese engineers managed to achieve by reducing the number of module components (while maintaining and even enhancing the richness of its functions) and their denser layout. And the case as such has acquired sharply defined contours, and even the screws on the bezel have become even more noticeable. The texture of the steel bezel itself is also worth noting: satin-brushed and polished areas alternate exquisitely on its surfaces.
The case is built according to the proprietary Carbon Core Guard concept, which provides the watch with unprecedented durability. The middle part of the case (diameter 46,6 mm) is made of reinforced carbon polymer, while the front and rear panels are made of steel. Composite micro shock absorbers are installed between them, additionally damping shock and vibration loads. At the same time, the use of the watch has become even more convenient thanks to the improved design of the buttons, which made it possible to increase its size.
The creators of the GST-B400 managed to achieve very economical energy consumption, which is important even with solar power (Tough Solar technology). Thus, compared to the GST-B200 model, energy consumption has decreased by 55,7%. The decisive factor here was the introduction of a new generation of the Bluetooth system and the reduction of the number of hands to two - hour and minute. As a result, it became possible to place the solar panel under the partially transparent dial.
The battery charges even in minimal light! And the dual LED illumination Super Illuminator allows you to seamlessly read information from the analog-digital dial, even in complete darkness. Neobrite fluorescent backlighting is also provided.
As already mentioned, the functionality of the GST-B400 is quite rich. The watch displays the world time and the time of the second time zone, is equipped with an automatic calendar (date, day of the week, month), which does not require adjustment until 2100, five alarms, a split-chronograph, a stopwatch (precision 1/100 sec.), A countdown timer, phone search functions, moving arrows to the neutral position (for reading information from digital displays). It is impossible not to mention such a nice feature as the ability to select a language for displaying the day of the week - English, Spanish, German, French, Italian and Russian are offered.
When connected to the G-SHOCK Connect app and the GPS navigator of the smartphone, one press of the watch button fixes the user's location on the map and the recording time. In the same application, you can set a schedule for important events - the clock will remind you of them. And, of course, in an alliance with a smartphone, the GST-B400 will automatically correct the exact time and switch to the desired time zone.
The GST-B400 watch is released in several design options. The GST-B400-1AER and GST-B400D-1AER versions feature black dials, with the former also featuring red accents. The GST-B400-1AER is offered on a plastic strap and the GST-B400D-1AER on a steel bracelet. The small weight of the watch is also impressive (among other things): on the strap - 80 g, on the bracelet - 160 g.
