Norqain - independent watchmakers who know how to surprise

Wrist Watch

Independent watch brands are an excellent choice for those who are interested in watchmaking, but are not yet ready to spend insanely on real masterpieces, just starting to collect their collection. At a reasonable price, they offer something exclusive and interesting.

Another example is new items from the Swiss brand Norqain, founded in 2018. It was created by Ben Kuffer, who worked at Breitling, the son of Mark Kuffer, who from 1988 to 2012 headed the Roventa Henex watch and component factory. Ben immediately managed to choose the right tone in negotiations with partners and retailers and firmly gain a foothold in the watch market.

In February 2020, Norqain announced the launch of its own in-house movement - a step that other brands have been taking for decades. This was made possible through a strategic partnership with Kenissi, created by Rolex's younger brother, Tudor. Mechanisms from Kenissi are used by Tudor and Chanel, and more recently by Norqain.

The proprietary caliber NN20 / 1 is used in one of the latest two novelties from Norqain, a limited edition from the Independence 21 collection, produced in a limited edition of 200 pieces. This movement, which operates three central hands, has a 70-hour power reserve and is chronometer-certified by the Swiss institute COSC. The rotor, which opens the transparent case back, is adorned with the brand's logo - a double N, connected to resemble alpine peaks. The mechanism bridge is also engraved with the Adventure motto - Freedom - Independence.

The caliber is housed in a 42 mm case with crown protection and an additional protrusion on the other side for personal engraving. The case is complemented by a steel bracelet with polished and matte links or a black leather strap.

The dial of the new Norqain Independence 21 Limited Edition is called Scratched Midnight Blue by the company. The artificially "scratched" surface with vertical lines looks very impressive.

The second novelty is the first skeleton in the Norqain range. The Independence 21 DLC Skeleton has been cleansed of the NN08S movement based on the Sellita SW200-1 S. It has also proven its chronometric accuracy and has a 38-hour power reserve.

The open dial is framed by a 42mm DLC case. It is paired with a coated bracelet (a first in the Norqain line). This watch is limited to 100 pieces.
