Into the pool with your head - what hours to dive in

Wrist Watch

Diving watches are one of the most popular types of wristwatches. Swimming in the depths of the sea is a great pleasure, even if these depths are not so great. Extraordinary beauties, breathtaking! But in any case - a serious matter, does not tolerate frivolity, and if diving is serious, then even more so. So the watch on the wrist is very useful in the underwater environment, and in many cases it is simply necessary.

As for professional submariners, civilian or military, they are not allowed into a beautiful but dangerous environment without a watch on their wrist. And not anyhow, but special - diving. What kind of clock is this? Here, formally, there is nothing complicated: diving watches must comply with the ISO 6425 standard. ISO is the International Organization for Standardization, and the 6425 (1996) standard defines the watches as diving.

First of all, the water resistance of the case is required: it cannot be less than 200 meters. This refers to static pressure: bodies are necessarily tested in certified laboratories, and the ISO 6425 standard establishes that the body should "not leak" during prolonged exposure to pressure: 25% higher than stated. That is, if 200 m is declared, then the tests are carried out at a pressure of 25 atmospheres.

In addition, "divers", according to ISO 6425, must meet many more requirements. All readings should be clearly readable in the dark at a distance of 25 cm from the eyes. Indication of the remaining time under water is mandatory - either digital or using a bezel digitized with a minute scale, and such a bezel, in order to avoid unpleasant accidents, has the right to rotate only in one direction (counterclockwise). The crown and additional buttons (if any) must be screwed down, as well as the back cover.

Plus a lot more: shock resistance, protection from magnetic fields, reliability of the bracelet and clasp, etc. etc. Apparently simple, but not very much. However attractive! And not only for inveterate diving enthusiasts, but also for ordinary people, because it is beautiful and high-status! Diver's watches are produced by many watch manufacturers, there are they for every taste and wallet. Let's take a look at some.

Traser P96 OdP Evolution Petrol, art. TR_109040

The Swiss company Traser is known in the watchmaking world for the fact that, along with the luxury manufacture Ball, it uses tritium trigalight technology to illuminate the dials: microtubes with glowing gas are embedded in the hands and markers. Sometimes, as in this model, it is also complemented by the classic SuperLuminova.

The model looks quite brutal - a massive (44 mm) black polyamide case, a military green dial, a brown (also, perhaps, military) leather strap. And, of course, everything is as it should be: the water resistance is 200 m, the bezel rotates in one direction, everything that is needed is screwed down. And the watch runs exactly, which is guaranteed by the Swiss quartz movement Ronda 515. Also sapphire crystal! And inexpensive.

Momentum Torpedo Blast, art. 1M-DV74Y1B

This Canadian company with Swiss roots specializes in sports watches and diving watches in particular. Before us is a very budgetary, but quite high-quality sample on the Japanese quartz "engine" Miyota, in a 44-mm steel case, in which everything corresponds to the diving standard - in particular, it is water-resistant up to 200 m. Hands and marks are covered with SuperLuminova phosphor, rubber strap , mineral glass.

Vostok Europe Anchar, art. 6S21 / 510O586P

And this is the creation of a European company, but with Russian roots ... The creation is attractive in appearance and worthy in essence, although it is somewhat more expensive than the previous ones. But it is understandable: firstly, this is a special limited (3000 copies) series dedicated to the Soviet submarine K-162 "Anchar", which set the world speed record for submarines half a century ago. Secondly, the water resistance here already reaches 300 m. Thirdly, the case (large, almost 49 mm) is made of aged bronze, which looks very impressive.

Finally, there is a chronograph. Well, everything else is also as it should be: Japanese Miyota quartz, trigalight illumination, reliable strap (silicone), tempered mineral glass, etc.

Lightning Baikal, art. 00801002-m

Here is a purely Russian product, the Chelyabinsk plant "Molniya". It's nice that the domestic watch industry is not ashamed at all - it's a very good thing, it's just a pity that the production limit is only 500 pieces ...

Steel 46-mm case, water-resistant up to 200 m, under the sapphire crystal there is a black dial with luminescent hands and a magnifying glass over the date aperture, a black silicone strap. The heart of the watch is Miyota, but this time not quartz, but self-winding, lovers of mechanics should be pleased.

Seiko Prospex SRPE37K1

What can I say - Seiko is Seiko, the reputation of the brand is deservedly at the highest level. An excellent specimen, both functionally and aesthetically! The white “porcelain” dial is especially good.

The watch is powered by an automatic Seiko 4R35 caliber (three hands and a date) with a 41-hour power reserve. Steel case (43,8 mm) water-resistant up to 200 m, sapphire crystal, transparent case back, Lumibrite illumination, silicone strap, folding clasp with protection against accidental opening. There is nothing to find fault with. And there is no desire.
