Cedar oil in hair care

Aromatherapy and essential oils

Beautiful, well-groomed hair is the personification of femininity. Any look should end with a neat hairstyle. Since ancient times, a thick, thick braid has been a symbol of health and beauty. But specially developed cosmetics for hair care are an achievement of the modern world. And representatives of the fair sex from the distant past actively used folk remedies to maintain beauty. Many recipes have passed through the years and are widely used in cosmetology today. One of these natural remedies is cedar oil - a very healthy product that will help keep your curls healthy.

Beneficial properties of cedar oil for hair

Cedar oil is extracted from the fruits of the cedar pine (nuts). This plant is famous for its beneficial properties, and the oil fully retains all its value. It is an environmentally friendly and natural product that has no synthetic analogues and is superior to many oils in its taste, calorie content and healthfulness. Cedar oil is produced by hot and cold pressing. In the first case, after heat treatment, slightly less useful properties are retained than after cold pressing. Therefore, for cosmetic needs, a composition processed by the second method is used. The finished oil has a rich yellow, slightly cloudy color with a pronounced nutty odor.

The composition of the oil is unique and contains many vitamins and microelements:

  • Vitamin E provides nutrition and hydration;
  • Vitamin A protects against dryness;
  • Vitamin D helps absorb calcium, which makes hair strong and bright;
  • vitamin B promotes regeneration in cells and metabolic processes in follicles;
  • vitamin F is responsible for the proper structure of cells;
  • amino acids (arginine, lysine, tryptophan, etc.) promote growth and also restore hair structure;
  • various chemical elements: silver, zinc, calcium, iron, sodium, magnesium, phosphorus, manganese, iodine, nickel, molybdenum, cobalt;
  • proteins (glutelin, globulin, albumin, prolamin).

In addition, the oil is rich in unsaturated fatty acids, which are the main value of the product. They are not synthesized in the human body, but are very important for the regeneration and nutrition of cells and active hair growth. With their deficiency, hair grows slowly and also falls out rapidly.

Cedar oil
Cedar oil has a unique composition that includes many vitamins, microelements, and amino acids necessary for healthy hair.

Thus, pine nut oil can have a multifaceted effect on the hair and scalp, providing a beautiful, healthy and well-groomed look to your hair:

  • restores the structure of the rod;
  • prevents split ends;
  • adds shine to curls;
  • makes combing easier;
  • stimulates the growth of strands;
  • moisturizes the scalp, eliminates dandruff;
  • protects against external factors (ultraviolet, etc.).

Important: cedar oil is useful for dry hair, and also as a care product after coloring.

In addition to all these praises, something else can be attributed to this product - antiseptic and disinfectant properties. Cedar oil helps heal wounds and eliminate rashes on the head, so it is used for some skin diseases.

Important: you should not confuse base oil with essential oil, the concentration of which is very high. Therefore, ether is used in small doses in combination with other components.

Several years ago I appreciated the benefits of cedar oil for hair. Having long, dark, dyed hair is not easy to keep it in perfect condition. Lack of shine and split ends give your hair a pitiful look. Heat treatment has a detrimental effect - constant styling with a hairdryer and curling iron only worsens their condition. But in the summer it’s a total disaster – daily exposure to sunlight simply kills your hair. I tried a lot of things: expensive shampoos and conditioners, the well-known burdock oil, and giving up a hair dryer and curling iron, but the result was not very obvious. And cedar oil was just a discovery for me. Twice a year I conduct treatment courses for my hair lasting a month. I love everything in combination - before one wash I rub the oil into the roots, before the next - various masks with the addition of this product, I finish each time by rinsing with a chamomile decoction, adding a few drops of essential oil, and, of course, special attention to the ends - lightly oiled I run my fingers through my still damp hair. My hair today cannot be compared to what it was three years ago. And one more little secret - beauty begins from the inside, so I regularly buy pine nuts, which have the same beneficial qualities as oil. The main thing is not to overdo it, because they are very high in calories!

Contraindications for use

This product has practically no contraindications, except for allergies and individual intolerance to the components. To avoid side effects, perform an allergy test before first use. To do this, apply a small amount to the inner bend of your elbow (or wrist) and wait a little. The absence of itching, redness or rashes means that the product does not cause allergies and is safe to use on the hair and scalp.

Methods of use for hair care

There are many ways to use pine nut oil. The healing composition of the product can activate the effect of other cosmetics, and also independently heal and strengthen curls. It is suitable for hair of any type - in addition to moisturizing, the product normalizes the secretions of the sebaceous gland, eliminating oily shine from the hair.

Using cedar oil in its pure form

To improve the overall condition of your hair, it is recommended to rub slightly warmed cedar oil into the roots a couple of hours before washing. Firstly, the hair will receive the nutrition necessary for the follicle, and secondly, a kind of massage that is performed at the same time stimulates blood circulation in the dermis, thereby strengthening the hair follicles. You can then apply the product along the entire length of your hair, which you then collect in a bun and cover your head with a towel. During these 2 hours, your hair will receive a colossal dose of vitamins and minerals. However, you should not expect instant results. To transform your hair, you need to carry out 10–15 such procedures with a frequency of 2 times a week.

Application inside

To improve the condition of curls, you can use cedar oil internally as a vitamin complex. For this option, only base oil is suitable, do not confuse it with essential oil. Shortly before meals, drink 1 tablespoon of oil for 1-2 months. This is exactly how long it will take for the results of healthy hair to appear. During this time, the body accumulates the necessary nutrients, which lead to the gradual restoration of hair from the inside. Even after stopping regular use, the beauty and health of your hair will delight you for a long time. To maintain the effect, you can add a little oil to salads and other dishes.

As a base for masks

Traditional medicine has developed many versions of masks based on pine nut oil. After all, this product has no competitors in providing a quick restorative effect on hair.

Important: to get maximum effectiveness, you should select the correct additional ingredients, taking into account your hair type, and also maintain the proportions.

Mask to enhance hair growth

This product is almost irreplaceable if you want to speed up the growth process of your curls. After all, one of its main functions is stimulation of the follicle, due to increased blood flow and metabolic processes. To prepare such a mask, you need to mix all the prepared ingredients: heated kefir, cognac, cedar oil, liquid honey, onion juice, sea salt (1 tablespoon each). Apply with gentle massaging movements to the scalp, as well as to the entire length of the hair. Then wrap with plastic wrap and a towel and leave for 1 hour, then wash your hair with shampoo.

Restoring mask

This mask can restore the hair structure in the shortest possible time: after just a month of regular use twice a week, the hair will become stronger and denser. The process of preparing it is very simple - mix the beaten yolk with butter in a 1:1 ratio. Determine the amount of ingredients yourself based on the length and thickness of your hair. This mask is applied to the entire length of the hair, after which it is wrapped in a towel. You can wash it off after 20 minutes.

Against split ends

One of the options for a therapeutic mask against split ends is a mixture of cedar and almond oils in equal quantities. The resulting mass is applied to the ends half an hour before washing.

To fight dandruff

By making the following mask twice a week, within a month you can get rid of flaking on the scalp. Mix 20 ml of cedar oil, the same amount of vodka and tea leaves in a container, heat it up a little. Rub the resulting mixture into the scalp, and distribute the remainder over the entire length of the hair using a comb. After 2 hours, wash your hair as usual.

Nourishing mask against hair loss

The mask according to this recipe maximally saturates the hair with useful substances, promotes hydration, has a cleansing effect and gives the hair a pleasant aroma. To prepare it, mix 2 tbsp. tablespoons of cedar oil with essential oils of lemon, rosemary, tea tree and ylang-ylang, taken 2 drops each. Rub the resulting mixture into the hair roots and ends. After an hour, rinse with warm water without shampoo.

This mask came to my aid when hair loss reached a critical level. Pregnancy does not pass without a trace, and a year of breastfeeding even more so. Every day I was losing so much hair that I was afraid that I would end up bald. But suddenly I accidentally stumbled upon cedar oil lying around in the bathroom cabinet, which in my worries I forgot to think about. The next day I bought a fresh jar of this and 4 bottles of the additional oils listed in the recipe. The first week I made masks before each wash, then twice a week, and after a month once a week. In total, it took me 3 months to recover.

Cedar essential oil for hair care

Cedar essential oil, like other highly concentrated products, requires dilution with the base ingredient in the following proportions: 2-3 drops of ether per 1 tbsp. spoon of base. Exceeding the proportions can lead to such unpleasant consequences as burns, headaches, dizziness and nausea. It is better to carry out healing using ether in courses - 10-15 procedures twice a week. These can be masks using any ingredients that are beneficial to your hair type. In addition to masks with this component, cedar oil ether will bring benefits in the following variations:

  • add a few drops of the product to your shampoo or conditioner every time you wash your hair. But do this not immediately into a full bottle, but with one-time use;
  • for unruly curls, prepare a rinse: add 4-5 drops of oil to a liter of warm clean water (herbal decoction suitable for your hair type) and rinse your hair with the solution after washing;
  • for dull hair, regularly perform an aroma combing ritual - distribute 2-3 drops of ether on a wooden comb, then comb your hair for about 5-7 minutes. This procedure is not only useful, but also pleasant - in addition to giving your hair shine, you will also receive an aroma therapy session that will calm the nervous system;
  • For weakened hair, a head massage will be helpful. Add 4-5 drops of ether to any vegetable oil and slightly heat the mixture. Rub the resulting solution into the scalp, making massage movements with your fingers for 10–15 minutes. After this, wash your hair with shampoo.

Reviews: cedar oil for hair

I enjoy using cedar oil for hair care. In general, I try to pamper them with special care from time to time, because this gives wonderful results. Sometimes I rub it into my skin, but more often I just add it to my shampoo. This method does not require much effort or time, and the effect is excellent!

I also recently switched from burdock oil to cedar nut oil. After it, my curly, thin hair seems to be heavier and less frizzy. And one more plus in favor of cedar, it is more expensive than burdock and you don’t need to apply as much of it on your head and, accordingly, less shampoo is needed to wash it off. In general, cedar nut oil nourishes the skin very well; if the skin is dry, you can replace regular cream with it a couple of times a week. And if you drink a teaspoon of oil every morning on an empty stomach, then you don’t need additional vitamins! It is also a powerful antioxidant!

When I was young, my hair was so tangled, and my mother didn’t know what to do to ease my hair condition. My hair at that time was very weak and thin, I constantly made various masks, but I didn’t notice any special effect from them, and then my mother was advised to buy cedar oil. And to make masks after washing your hair, to be honest, I did such masks in a course and for a very long time, about six months, but still the effect became visible after 3 months. Of course, this didn’t make my hair any thicker, but it stopped getting tangled.

So, the solution to the problem of dull, lifeless hair turns out to be much simpler than it might seem. Cedar oil is a common and inexpensive product, so every young lady can afford it. Just remember that one-time use will not bring any results. Therefore, arm yourself with patience and useful information and start refining your hair.
