Delbana is a watch brand founded in Grenchen, Switzerland in 1931. The idea belonged to the Italian Goliardo Della Balda. For almost a hundred years of history, the brand has been and remains true to tradition, producing accurate and reliable watches.
In 2001, Delbana merged with another family production company, Delma Watch Ltd, and is still based in Lengnau, Switzerland.
Functionality: rich and varied
“So this is a chronograph!” But no, let's take a closer look. Indeed, at a quick glance at the dial, it seems that this is a watch with a chronograph function. But everything is much more interesting.
A calendar in a watch is, in general, a common and familiar thing. We are accustomed to the fact that wristwatches show the date and day of the week. Delbana engineers went even further.
The watch is equipped with an advanced calendar function: day of the week, date, month (along with it the serial number of the week in the year) and a moon phase indicator. Well, not a bad set. Well, then a little more detail.
The left sub-dial shows the day of the week. The inscriptions are made in a clear style, that is, in English. Most of these meanings are familiar and understandable. There is no quick adjustment of this parameter. To set the desired day of the week, you need to rotate the arrows.
The right sub-dial serves as a date indicator. It has an instant adjustment system using a button recessed into the body. This time we will do without rotating the arrows.
The moon indicator is located under these two additional windows. Its setting is also carried out by moving the arrows.
Next, let's move on to another indicator, which, in my opinion, is one of the main features of this watch. Yes, we are talking about weeks of the year and months. A separate arrow with a crescent-shaped ending is responsible for their indication. The serial numbers of the weeks are marked on the dial, and the months are located on the inner bezel. However, this in no way interferes with reading the readings.
I will add that after setting it up throughout the year, all that remains is to adjust the dates in months with 30 days and in February. Yes, this is not a perpetual calendar, like, for example, Citizen.
This functionality is possible thanks to the use of the Ronda 706.b quartz movement in the watch. He, like his brothers in the shop, is distinguished by unpretentiousness, accuracy and reliability.
Dial: mirror on black
Let's move on to the dial. Moreover, there was already a story above about what is located on it. All that remains are the final touches - mirrored numbers, marks and the same arrows. For a black background, this is the most suitable or even optimal option.
Housing: standard does not mean bad
Let's move on to the body. Here you can see the standard approach chosen by the manufacturer in the form of mirror-polished steel. In terms of practicality, perhaps this surface is inferior to a matte one, but in terms of shine and play in the sun it is definitely not.
Size 42 mm. A sort of gold standard for cases. At the same time, the absence of an external bezel slightly increases the size. In a word, a watch for those who like larger dimensions.
Conclusion: who is the watch for?
Undoubtedly, the watch will delight its owner with functionality, Swiss quality and the presence of a large number of hands that know everything about time, moon phases and dates. This cannot be taken away. This is exactly what makes this watch special.
