At the Watches and Wonders show in Geneva, Akio Naito, President of Seiko Watch Corporation, said that the new products for 2023 may be more important than the amazing Kodo. Among the premieres was Grand Seiko's first automatic chronograph, the Tentagraph. It is equipped with the new 9SC5 movement, which combines a three-day power reserve and a frequency of 10 semi-oscillations per second (translated as 36 semi-oscillations/hour). The new tweeter continues the tradition of the 000SA9 movement.
It also uses Dual Impulse Escapement, which combines two impulses - "direct" (energy is transferred to the balance directly from the escape wheel) and the traditional "indirect". The power reserve of the 9SA5 was 80 hours, the chronograph was 72 hours, but there were more functions. The mechanism is tested for 20 days.
The 9SC5 is housed in a titanium case (43,2mm x 15,33mm) and Grand Seiko's dial finish is attributed to Mount Iwate as seen from the windows of the Shizukuishi studio where the watch is made.
