In 2017, the brand's current mascot, Vivienne, appeared on Louis Vuitton watches for the first time - a funny character inspired by Louis Vuitton's floral monogram. This year, Louis Vuitton introduced two new models with its own mascot. Created with the help of the finest artisans at La Fabrique du Temps, the watches reference themes of space and cherry blossoms.
The Tambour Slim Vivienne Jumping Hours Sakura model captures the tenderness and sophistication of the fragile petals of the Japanese cherry tree. The white gold case complements the pink mother-of-pearl dial with a delicate floral pattern made using the technique of pictorial miniature. The play of light on the surface of the dial is enhanced by diamonds on the bezel and case lugs.
Dressed in a kimono and hidden under an umbrella, Vivienne displays the time using two windows in which a flower and the number of the current hour appear alternately. The minutes are displayed using a transparent hand with a cherry blossom at the end.
For the first time in the history of Louis Vuitton, the dial of the model with the Astronaut prefix combines mother-of-pearl and aventurine. Against a background reminiscent of the night sky, Vivienne is depicted in a spacesuit, with diamond floral monograms, planets and even a rocket scattered around the dial. Vivienne's hairstyle is made in the shape of flower petals studded with diamonds.
Like the Vivienne Sakura, the Vivienne Astronaut is housed in a white gold case (38 mm) with diamond-set lugs. In this model, the clock is displayed either in a round window or on one of the planets. The function of the minute hand here is performed by a rocket.
The watch is powered by the LV 180 caliber, developed and assembled at the Louis Vuitton manufactory in Geneva. Through the transparent caseback, you can see that the rotor of the movement is made of rose gold and decorated with an engraving with the brand's floral monogram.
