Rodania R16020 review: bicolor charisma

Wrist Watch

Rodania will soon celebrate its centenary since its birth. This happened in 1930. The place of birth was a city that became famous in our latitudes for the fact that the well-known Professor Pleischner wandered around it. Yes, we are talking about Bern. The Rodania brand originated in this picturesque Swiss city.

After the end of the Second World War, Rodania increasingly asserted itself in the watch market. In the fifties of the last century, the company actively cooperates with the world of auto racing, maintaining this tradition in the twenty-first century. A little later, Rodania’s portfolio was replenished with active participation in the conquest and exploration of Antarctica.

At the present stage of development, Rodania stands confidently on its feet, offering its admirers a number of models that combine reliability, precision and impeccable appearance.

Bicolor: timeless

Will the fashion for bicolor models go away? It seems that this fashion is eternal and timeless. Agree, there is something quite nice about the combination of white (stainless steel) and yellow (durable IP coating). The model that we will talk about today is exactly that - bicolor. Below we will take a closer look at the watch, realizing what is the beauty of the yellow and white watch.

Case: everything about it and even more

There is nothing new in the case material. It's good old stainless steel with a mild polish. The bezel, painted yellow, stands out as a white (that is, yellow) spot against this background. This gives the watch an elegant look.

Further, the yellowness flows into the links of the bracelet, adding sophistication to this metal friend of the watch, and as if forming a single whole with it. In short, the case and bracelet complement each other.

But let's return to the body. Its diameter is only forty millimeters. However, what makes it visually larger is the narrow bezel.

Dial: gray, but not dull

The dial has a light gray color. The even-numbered marks are slightly voluminous and are made in a yellow rim, inside of which there is a light-accumulating composition. The same substance fills the odd marks indicated by rectangles. How do tags behave in the dark? Considering that the model is in no way a diving model, a decent picture emerges.

On the dial, the hands are presented in two forms - paired hour and minute hands, plus a second hand placed on a separate arena. “Little second” is the name coined in the watch world for this combination of hands. By the way, this is a kind of tribute to the past. After all, a hundred years ago, a small second hand was a mandatory attribute of a watch. Both wrist and pocket.

Don't forget to mention one more yellow element. Without it, time adjustment is impossible. The crown is also yellow. But with this color scheme, this seems to be a mandatory and feasible condition.

Bracelet and glass: no problem

Let's dwell a little on the bracelet. As already mentioned, two rows of links are yellow, like gold. The thickness is not the most outstanding, but given the thickness of the case, the balance is struck perfectly. The clasp is equipped with a push-button lock.

The glass is sapphire and flat. On the one hand, it’s simple. But on the second hand, although this is a common, but reliable option.

Movement: nothing to add – Ronda

A Swiss movement from the Ronda family is hidden under the solid back cover. It is characterized by three words - reliable, durable, prestigious. It is quartz that has long and firmly won the hearts of watch lovers due to its ability to work and delight the owner from battery replacement to the next replacement. And so on in a circle, ad infinitum.
