SpongeBob Squarepants, Mickey Mouse and the Ghost: Cartoon Characters Watch

Wrist Watch

Do you like cartoons? Say “no” - well, we will believe ... But doubt will remain, because everyone loves them - just some adults are embarrassed to admit that they have preserved such childishness in themselves. Others are not at all shy, and they are doing the right thing! Many manufacturers of wrist watches are not shy either, and they do the right thing too: after all, watches are for people, and people love cartoons ...

We are talking about five models of wristwatches inspired by popular cartoons and dedicated to their heroes.

We start with the functionally simplest sample. Model Gucci g-timelessmade in Switzerland and powered by a high-precision quartz movement only displays hours and minutes ... but no, it also shows a GHOST!

Everything is mysterious and, as it were, scary, everything is so black and black - the case (steel with PVD-coating, 38 mm), the strap (rubber), the dial (also rubber, which is a rarity); and a white hoodie, inside which is the very ghost. Only the outlines of the eyelets are black (in the shape of the Gucci logo). However, there is nothing to be afraid of: this is a ghost from the cartoon about Peppa Pig, in fact, it is kind and funny. A bit like Karlsson when he plays the role of a cute ghost with a motor, doesn't it? However, the price of the watch is quite adult - about 1000 euros.

The next model is from an American company Invicta, Sponge Bob Special Edition, a dedication, of course, to the legendary SpongeBob SquarePants. In terms of functionality, the watch is absolutely opposite to the previous ones: here there is a countdown of seconds, a date window, and, most importantly, a chronograph. And the design is also opposite: the steel case and bracelet are covered with bright yellow aquaprint with a multiple image of the character.

The heart of the model is the Seiko quartz caliber - as much as 52 mm plus a powerful bezel, but the combination with the "childish" design gives reason to believe that the watch is addressed to very young people, at least in soul. The issue is limited to 3000 copies.

Another product from the same manufacturer: Invicta Disney Limited Edition Mickey Mouse... The dedication is also quite obvious - to Disney's Mickey Mouse, he is drawn on the dial in the center, and is "mentioned" by triangles made of crystals in positions "12", "3", "6" and "9". And the character is completely different: this is a watch for girls, as evidenced by the elegant design (the color of yellow gold prevails, the dial has an exquisite decor, the bracelet is attached effectively), and the size of the case (34 mm). The three date dials are also driven by a Seiko quartz movement. The circulation is limited to the same 3000 copies.

A particular style of the genre thrives in the Land of the Rising Sun. Japanese anime have a multi-million army of fans all over the world, and most of them are just adults. Traditions and watchmakers are honored, which is evidenced by watches Casio Dragon Ball Z x G-Shock... The source of inspiration here is the animated series Dragon Ball Z and its protagonist Son Goku, which is reflected in positions "9" and "3": the first of them depicts "dragon pearls" - the main treasure that the heroes of the epic are hunting, in the second - the symbol Z.

Stylishly painted, bright case (51,2 mm) and a plastic bracelet, a black analog-digital display with orange backlighting complete the look of the model, but all the characteristic qualities of G-Shock are in place: exceptional durability, high water resistance (200 m), resistance to magnetic fields, the richest set of functions.

We conclude the review with another Japanese masterpiece, a phenomenon of high (in the full sense) watchmaking on anime themes: Seiko 5 Sports Boruto & Naruto... Three switches with date and day of the week, in a steel case (42,5 mm) and on a nylon strap, with a mechanical Seiko 4R36 automatic movement (power reserve 41 hours) - a classic of the brand. But the reference to anime and manga (comics) Boruto & Naruto is not obvious, but subtle and sophisticated!

The spiral pattern on the dial is a supernatural ability (jutsu) "Rasengan" that the ninja Boruto inherited from his father Naruto of the Uzumaki clan. The bezel bears the symbol of the Village of Foliage, the home village of this clan. The screw-down transparent case back bears the Uzumaki coat of arms (kamon). The symbolism of the series is also present on the gift wrapping. All together truly magnificent, limited edition (6500 copies) and more than deserves its price - within just 500 euros.
