Vladimir Kanevsky was born in the USSR, in Kharkov in 1954. In the 60-70s of the 20th century Kharkov was one of several major centers of science and advanced technical thought in the country. During these golden years, the students of Vladimir Kanevsky, who graduated from the Kharkov Architectural Institute, fell out.

Here is the first important "ingredient", thanks to which the artist's talent was revealed in all its glory.

Immediately after the young man graduated from the institute, he left for Leningrad. What an amazing city this is! Fertile ground for revealing the talents of many Russian artists!

Vladimir worked as an architect by profession. On his account, several new districts in St. Petersburg, cottages in the Crimea, some projects in Moscow, and then he went to New York to try his luck.

When I came to America, I had to somehow earn a living. I have always wanted to do porcelain. First I made a plate, then a flower. I soldered a stem in the kitchen over gas, because there was no money for a soldering iron. It's been 24 years and I've learned a lot in that time. And I bought a soldering iron.

It all started with the fact that interior designer Howard Slatkin offered Vladimir to earn extra money by making a sculpture in the style of French antique porcelain. It was necessary to make a melon. Not being fully confident in his abilities, the artist accepted the challenge.

Kanevsky's work has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, and his client list includes Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Valentino, Princess Gloria von Thurn and Taxis, Oscar de la Renta.

Vladimir held exhibitions in Moscow and St. Petersburg, his last exhibition was held in the Hermitage in 2017.
