Mondaine classics - now in metal

Wrist Watch

In 1944, the Swiss engineer Hans Hilfiker, then an employee of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB), created a branded watch, which can still be seen at the stations lost in the mountains and at the stations of the largest cities in the country.

The watch became one of the national symbols of Switzerland, and in 1986 it became available to all passengers in love with precision (and at the same time to fans of the best designs of the XNUMXth century) - the official SBB license was acquired by Mondaine.

Since then, Mondaine has remained true to tradition, broadcasting recognizable forms over and over again. However, adjusting the details can also change the character of the watch. This year the company has expanded its Classic series (dedicated to railway watches) with models on a metal bracelet.

Among the new products are watches with a diameter of 36 and 40 mm, using three color schemes of the dial. In addition to the classic white dial, against the background of which the black hands in combination with the indispensable red seconds look so impressive, the collection has a watch with a black dial and contrasting white hands and markers (the seconds hand, of course, retained its tone).

The models in steel cases with gold IP-plating look much more revolutionary. The hands and markers are also golden here (like the bracelet). The red details, however, are inviolable: in addition to the second hand, the side of the crown with a gold “M” logo on a red background has become red. Unlike the versions with white and black dials, not all markers are highlighted in this model (although they are imprinted on the dial).

Regardless of the size, all new items are equipped with a quartz movement Ronda 513. Another common feature - the case water resistance is 30 meters.

The watch does not hide the origins of the design: the message that the official watch of the Swiss Federal Railways appears in the form of a wristwatch is engraved on the case back. In addition, all watches made in the Swiss city of Solothurn are marked with the SBB logo, which is located right below the brand name on the dial.
