In recent years, Maurice Lacroix has presented more and more models with original designs. The most entertaining novelty is, of course, Masterpiece Roue Carree Second. This watch with a "square wheel" has won recognition and popularity among both ordinary amateurs and true experts in watchmaking. It was this model that won the main prize in the category "Best Product Design 2012" at the Red Dot 2012 competition. By the way, its predecessor, the Roue Carree, also won many awards, including the Red Dot.

For a long time mankind puzzled over the formula of the ideal circle. And today this geometric shape is no longer interesting to anyone. All attention is paid to a more extravagant solution presented by watch designers Maurice Lacroix - a watch with the first square second wheel in watch history.

During the development of this model, the manufactory attracted the engineer Michel Vermo from the architecture school HE-ARC. He created a special tooth profile for the square wheel and clover wheel and ensured the consistency of power transmission through the use of innovative LiGA technology. Thanks to the invention, it became possible to evenly grip the wheels with increasing rotational speed. As a result, the square wheel was given the function of indicating the seconds. Now every owner of the Masterpiece Roue Carree Seconde model will witness the mesmerizing dance of the second hand in the square wheel and the round wheel located at the hour mark "8:30".

The hour and minute hands occupy a traditional place in the center of the silvery dial, engraved with the Grand Colimacon. A retrograde 45-hour power reserve indicator is located at 3 o'clock.

The crown is traditionally decorated with the letter "M" - the company's logo. The dial is protected by a domed sapphire crystal with double-sided anti-reflective coating.

The watch is equipped with a 156-jewel caliber ML 34 hand-wound movement with a balance frequency of 18.000 vibrations per hour. Power reserve 45 hours. This modification of caliber ML156 is the tenth in-house Maurice Lacroix movement. Its flawless performance can be seen through the sapphire caseback.

The black watch strap is made of alligator leather and is equipped with a reliable stainless steel folding clasp, decorated with the company logo. The Masterpiece Roue Carree Second's water resistance is quite standard - 50 meters.
