Omega has unveiled two new watches designed to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the James Bond franchise. The first version is made of stainless steel, the second is made of Canopus Gold alloy. Each of the two versions is endowed with features that pay homage to both the fictional protagonist of the James Bond movie and the author of the novels himself.
Sixty-one years ago, on October 5, 1962, one of the most iconic movie characters in the history of cinema debuted on the screens - the secret agent of British intelligence, James Bond. Since that time, 25 action films have gained popularity among fans. Omega's favorite movie is GoldenEye (1995). In this part of the iconic film series, 007 wore an Omega watch on his wrist for the first time.
Since then, the brand's innovative and stylish partnerships with the makers of the Secret Agent films have made their mark in Omega's history. Just as the image of James Bond himself improved, so did his watches, created by the masters of the brand. Omega watch for Bond was chosen by costume designer Lindy Hemming: "I was convinced that Commander Bond, a sailor, a diver and a modest gentleman of the world would wear this watch."
The highlight of the two versions of the new Seamaster Diver 300m 60th Anniversary Edition is the film-inspired case back. Laser-engraved, the film's famous opening scene with a silhouette of Bond and a gun barrel is set in the center of the sapphire crystal caseback. The case diameter of both models is 42 mm, the water resistance is 300 meters.
The first version of the watch is made of stainless steel and is inspired by the Seamaster worn by Bond in Goldeneye. The watch comes with a mesh bracelet in the same style as the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M 007 watch, created especially for the latest film No Time to Die. The watch is equipped with a co-axial Master Chronometer caliber 8806.
The bezel and dial are made of blue anodized aluminium. The dial is adorned with a laser engraved wave pattern. The bezel features a diving scale filled with Super-LumiNova. The same coating is applied to hour markers and hands. Another feature of the first edition of the Anniversary Edition is the "60" number on the diving scale, which replaces the traditional inverted triangle and luminescent dot.
The second version of the watch is made of Canopus Gold. This model pays homage to the Golden Eye estate in Jamaica, where Ian Fleming wrote a series of James Bond novels. The dial of this version is made of gray silicon, the crystals of which form a unique pattern. This guarantees the owner that there are no two identical dials. The watch is powered by a co-axial Master Chronometer caliber 8807.
In homage to the Jamaican flag, the bezel is paved with baguette-cut diamonds in ten colors that range from deep green to cognac to olive, yellow and gold. Two triangular-cut white diamonds are set at 12 to enhance brilliance and recall the 60th anniversary.
