Titoni Seascoper 83600-S-BE-255 review: functional, versatile and reliable watch

Wrist Watch

With the approach of summer, no matter where and how we begin to spend a long-awaited or just planned vacation, we want variety in our wardrobe. Most of my friends agree with this, and we almost unanimously agree that a new watch for the summer season is what we need. The search for a new, interesting, Swiss, certainly mechanical, high-quality, relatively inexpensive and at the same time quite bright specimen led me to Titoni watches.

If you are not familiar with this brand, know that Titoni is a truly independent family watch brand, founded in 1919 by a certain Fritz Slup in Grenchen, Switzerland. Now the company is managed by the fourth generation of Sloop, the brand has been maintaining its special approach to doing business and watchmaking for many years (a separate, interesting story).

Titoni specializes in classic design watches, produces about 100 watches a year, and keeps prices at the "affordable luxury" level. In 000, Titoni embarked on the difficult path of developing its own automatic movement, efforts were crowned with success - introduced in 2013, on the occasion of the company's 2019th anniversary, the Titoni Caliber T100 automatic movement was primarily used in the watches of the classic Line 10 collection, but soon the Caliber T1919 began to be used and in the production of functional, durable, versatile diving watches - the Seascoper collection. About them and speech.

Titoni Seascoper is an impressive watch, it is a real "diver" with a classic design. The handsome 42 mm stainless steel case with brushed surfaces and polished elements is equipped with a screw-down crown, has a helium escape valve, and the watch withstands a pressure of 60 bar (water-resistant up to 600 m).

What is unusual for divers with such characteristics is that the case back is transparent: although it does not fully open the mechanism, there is a “window”. The unidirectional swivel bezel has a ceramic insert, in my favorite model it is dark blue, matching the dial, it has the necessary markings, the first 15 minutes - in red, very expressive.

The navy blue dial is much more eye-catching than the classic black version of this model, but that's all a matter of taste. The combination of a dark blue background with red and white indication colors looks advantageous, modern and summery. The markers and numbers are large, the date window at 3 o'clock may seem superfluous to some, but there is really nothing to complain about - everything is pretty well balanced. Caliber T10, an important part of the "image" of the Titoni Seascoper 600, looks out through the porthole of the back cover. It is a large (almost 30 mm in diameter) self-winding movement, its accuracy is confirmed by the COSC chronometer certificate, the in-house T10 provides 72 hours of battery life when fully wound. It's nice that Titoni uses this particular caliber, and not the clone of the ETA 2824 movement, which is common in watches in this price range, despite the reliable reputation of the latter.

Titoni Seascoper comes on a steel bracelet with a folding clasp, I really hope that soon we will get a much-needed (for a change) fabric strap (dark blue with a red stripe on a blue background) made of plastic caught in the oceans.

These straps are manufactured by the Swiss company Tide Ocean. She specializes in collecting plastic waste from the oceans, which is then processed into pellets and premium yarn, which is used to make straps for watch companies. This is probably a small contribution on the scale of the huge task of cleaning the planet from garbage, but you must admit that it is a good initiative.

All in all, the Titoni Seascoper 83600-S-BE-255 has a great set of qualities and charisma: if you like classic divers, don't ignore this one.
