Folk Swiss made — watch review Continental 21501-GD101110 & Continental 21501-LD815110

Wrist Watch

Today we are introduced to the Continental brand - Swiss watches that are cheaper than they should be. The review will include two models at once: a classic men's watch in the mega-popular Royal Oak style and an interesting women's model in a similar design. By the way, these two models can be a great pair of watches for you and your significant other.

Of course, when we talk about Royal Oak watches, you need to understand that many brands around the world use this design in their watches. After all, it is tritely beautiful and causes demand from buyers. What makes Continental watches different from the mass of other brands? Let's take a closer look and try to figure it out.

The brand was officially registered in Switzerland in 1924, but the first mention of the brand appeared much earlier, in 1881. At that time, watches under this brand were supplied to the USA - already at that time Continental was a well-known manufacturer of pocket watches and successfully exported them to the United States. Today, the brand does not really promote this story, which is a bit strange in my opinion. But we get watches, the price of which does not include huge marketing costs.
During the 20th century, the Continental brand was part of several watch corporations, and in 1993 the brand entered the Rivoli group family, a significant investor of which is the Swiss Swatch group.

Despite joining various watch corporations, the brand independently builds its strategy. It chooses both advertising and the price range of watches produced, which is certainly a plus for the end user who does not overpay for watches.

And since we talk so much about price, I think it's worth starting with. An excellent men's Swiss watch Continental 21501-GD101110 costs about 400 euros today. Of course, it should be noted that this is a quartz watch - after all, Swiss mechanics for such money is unlikely.

This price, it seems to me, is very pleasant for such a nice watch. And the mechanisms here are not the simplest. This is a Swiss Quartz ETA F06.115. It is important to note that the batteries here are also very tenacious, they last for several years, so you don’t have to run and change the battery every year. The clock will show the exact time for a long time and regularly.

Outwardly, it all looks very cool. Integrated bracelet, multi-faceted, mirror-polished and satin finish. Separately, I want to note how the face of the case passes into the bracelet, the face of which repeats the polishing of the case. Attracts attention and looks good! Again, based on the budget, everything is done very carefully and competently.

I could not find any shortcomings on the bracelet - it does not even ring, weighty, neat and reliable. The central connecting links are glossy polished, and the main part of the bracelet is matte, satin, and this, it seems to me, is important, since in any case, small scratches during operation (especially on the bracelet) will appear, and this is immediately evident on the gloss. On a matte surface, micro scratches are still not so visible, which means that the watch will retain its original appearance and aesthetics for a long time.

The watch has a flat sapphire crystal that will not scratch, and a mirror-polished welt around the glass. More precisely, its side part is mirror polished, and on top it is satin-finished and polished screws are pronounced on it. Looks great!

Of course, the style and secondary design are readable, but many brands allow themselves this. The dimensions of the case are quite comfortable. The diameter is 41 mm, while the thickness of the watch is 10 mm. The lugs are slightly curved and thanks to the integrated bracelet, the watch looks very neat on the wrist. Case back with Continental logo, Sapphire inscription, 50m water resistant, Swiss made, stainless steel. Water resistance of 50 m will seem insufficient to someone, but still this is far from a diving watch. This is, let's say, an office, everyday option, and here 50 m, it seems to me, is more than appropriate.

Let's take a look at the dial. Three hands, a central second, on the hour and minute hands and on the luminescent markers, and the dial is crowned with a large, mirror-polished Roman XII.
The dial itself is white, with an elegant pattern in the form of diamonds. Looks great in the light, shimmers and wins back. It may seem that in this combination, readability is not the best. Yes, a white dial, polished steel, but at the same time, it seems to me that the time is perfectly readable from any angle. There are no problems in this regard. There is also a neat date window at the 3 o'clock position, the brand's logo, and the cherished Swiss made engraving at the bottom.

Even if we examine the dial in detail, I did not see any shortcomings or frankly problematic places. And the indexes are very neat and the arrows are well executed. Here they approached, again, with attention to detail, even despite the relatively low cost of the watch. Still, the brand tried to make them worthy. This word, in my opinion, is the most suitable for Continental - a worthy watch for its price.

Women's model in the same style. Yes, absolutely everything is the same: they practically do not differ in anything, except for their dimensions and a slightly different combination of colors. The case diameter is 30 mm, the thickness is 8 mm and the watch will look great on a graceful female hand. The combination of steel and gold is an absolutely win-win option for girls: you can combine this watch with almost any jewelry.

Naturally, these two models can be considered as a pair of watches. It is worth noting that there is a men's watch in this color and, in addition, there is a steel version of the women's model. So you can choose the most suitable option for you and wear them with your soulmate. Similar, interesting, elegant Swiss watches!

In fact, I did not even expect such attention to detail from Continental. Everyone was waiting, where would the catch be, why are we offered Swiss watches for such a price? But, frankly, I do not see any jambs. Everything is neat and harmonious, everything is coolly polished and coolly combined.

I like the pattern on the dial, which can be vaguely called "Parisian carnations". It seems to me that this is a win-win version of the classic casual watch of a light sports orientation.
I am sure that such models from Continental can become excellent companions for you and for your soulmate for many years to come.
